Q: Can I still apply to college or university if I do not have high school graduation certificate or grade 12? A: Yes, you can, but not all the college and universities accept this condition. As a general rule, one of the requirements for the university application is the graduation from the high school. Most public universities and colleges won’t accept any applications without high school graduation. However, there still are some schools accept students without grade 12 under certain conditions. If the students are under 19 years old, they must study certain grade 12 course beside academic university course at these colleges. If the students are over 19 years, they must meet the English Proficiency requirement.
Q: Can I still be accepted by colleges or universities if my IELTS or TOEFL score did not meet their English requirement? A: Yes, you can, but you will be accepted under certain conditions. For most post-secondary institute in Vancouver, if your English test score does not meet their requirement, you will be admitted by studying some English program beside the academic program at that institute. In some special cases, you can even be admitted to academic program if you have strong evidence to prove your English skills (such as instructor reference letter, long English studying history in English-speaking countries). Nonetheless, for the sake of entering a good university, the international student should do their best to prepare TOEFL/IELTS as earlier as possible and to get their TOEFL/IELTS score as higher as possible.
Q: Can I still apply for a new study permit, if the previous one has already expired? A: Yes, you can should you have a good enough excuse. In that case, you must submit your application within three month after your study permit expiration, and you need to explain why you did not apply for the extension of your study permit before it expires. You also need to pay some government late application penalty fee.
